Holy cow! HealCam has been all over the news lately. First, Boing Boing ran a post about HealCam last week. ABC News followed with a full feature article about the site and a report on ABC News Radio. One of the biggest newspapers in Spain, La Vanguardia, has also filed a report titled Healcam, el Chatroulette de la salud. The site was also profiled on France24 (go to 3:40 in the video) and by Novaplanet (also French), and by a popular Brazilian tech site Olhar Digital.

With all the recent publicity about HealCam, we are working on bringing to you more disease choices. For now, if you would like to discuss depression, for example, please go to “Mental problems”. If you want to talk about back and spine issues, we have “Bones and Joints.”

Please give us your comments regarding what diseases you want to see covered and any other suggestions you may have.

We are pleased to announce a new interactive online service for people with medical conditions: HealCam video chat site. The concept is simple. If you would like to talk to others with the same condition as yours, go to the site, press start and choose a health category, say diabetes, and you will be connected to a random person with diabetes. When your conversation is over, you press next and you are automatically connected to another person with diabetes. You can talk to as many people as you wish. We envision the site as a large meeting place, where people can exchange information, get or give moral support, and learn from others. No registration required to participate in the video chats. So please check it out, and spread the word!

Right now the site offers a few general categories: Diabetes, Weight Loss & Dieting, Depression, Cancer, Pregnancy and Childbirth, and Heart Disease. However, we will be opening new health channels in the coming weeks and hope that you try out the service.

Also, we would like to ask you for your feedback: please let us know if you run into any connectivity or video issues, or if you have any specific suggestions for making HealCam to get better.
